At Start your blood pressure tester pumps air into the cuff.
It measures while pumping up (not like Dr. when releasing pressure).

If not enough pressure can be built up, an “error cuff” is signalled.

Unplug the tube. Close with finger. If error persists, something inside is not air tight anymore. Your device probably is unrepairably gone! Throw it away in the right sort of garbage.

In my case the inner tube plugs had become brittle beyond use. 

As a precaution never plug out the tube unnecessarily.

PS. As you can see, the unit was over 16 years old. So it certainly was not planned obsolescense. The producer will follow up on this particular weak point.
