Picasa zeigt links kein Bearbeitungsfeld mehr – lost command field

 If Picasa shows only the one picture to edit, nothing at left nor right – no panic! –

but you miss all the editing commands – normally first column at the left, here just plain gray –

go to Ansicht (view?) and activate (check) the 8th visible possible activity (right after Orte, places) »Steuerelemente zum Bearbeiten anzeigen«,
show the elements to use or so:
