I here (in Bonn) have a digital subscription to the New York Times, NYT. I pay €2 every 4 weeks for: “Unlimited digital access to everything we have to offer - News, plus Games, Cooking, Audio, Wirecutter and The Athletic”. So it’s cheap, at least for the moment. I think the NYT ist the fastest and best source of news. (For Europe I read the NZZ.) Incidentally. As an active (but not all believing) Catholic I regret that our church has given up moral support, at least as seen by Rome. With the stringent order “sex only when you wish a child” the Catholic church has given up making any sense nowadays. Self-disqualifying. The endless cathechism promulgated 1992, see https://www.vatican.va/archive/compendium_ccc/documents/archive_2005_compendium-ccc_en.html and mainly https://www.vatican.va/archive/ENG0015/_INDEX.HTM , is at best history, and of little use practically. A shame, I’d say.

PS. The NYT has other fine columns, like science and fashion. Here another example: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/04/29/style/cargo-pants.html
